Girls Photoshoot at Berryessa

Our Girls Team gathered at the Conner residence this weekend for a photo shoot and free ride session on beautiful Lake Berryessa.  On the agenda: get to know each other better, get a few great riding shots, and push each other to take our riding to the next level.

After a laughter-filled evening of food, drinks, wakeboarding videos (yay Rewritten!) and lots of girl talk (much of it quite shocking), the all girl sleepover began.  I’m sure all you fellas are dying to know what happens when 6 hot wakeboard chicks have a slumber party, and you’re probably imagining a scantily clad pillow fight of some sort, but the details of the night will be kept under wraps.

The next morning, everyone was up before dawn, amped to start the day, but outside we saw nothing but dark rain clouds and lightning on the horizon.  Determined to make this long-awaited riding day a reality, we were not about to let a little wind and rain slow us down.  So we loaded up the X-Star and made our way to the boat launch.

Photographer Riley Bangerter had explained what kind of shots the magazines look for, so each girl went out with a clear purpose - to perfect their grabs.  We focused on grabbing the tip, the tail, or between the boots, styling it out with a tweak or a poke, and holding that grab for as long as possible.  It was a bit awkward at first for everyone to be charging in to the wake with Riley sprawled out on a tube just a few inches away, but we all got the hang of it pretty quickly.  Riley captured several great shots of our team of lovely ladies, and the dark and ominous clouds that we dreaded seeing when we awoke actually made for a killer backdrop.

After everyone had their turn in front of the lens, the free ride session began, which is when the hammers really started flying.  Everyone was throwing down their usual bag of tricks, but perhaps more importantly, they were trying new things, too; front rolls, back rolls, tantrums, threes, a whirlybird - judging by the riding this weekend, you’ll soon start seeing all of these consistently from our Girls Team.  It’s safe to say that the weekend was a huge success.

A huge special thanks to Tim and Kim Connor for providing a killer ride behind their X-Star and opening their home to six crazy girls; Cassie Bangerter for cheering us on; and Riley Bangerter for sacrificing his comfort (especially the knees) to shoot us. Everyone can definitely expect some great things to come from the NorCal Hyperlite Girls Team.
