The first stop for Spanky Beaver’s jib jam this year was a huge success. There were a lot of riders out early Saturday battling the up flat rail, flat bar, corrugated pipe and rooftop rails at the Cunningham Aquatic Center in Vallejo. The event this year was an open ride session with 3 winches running to keep the lines to a minimum. There were a lot of familiar faces and a few new ones. Contest organizers Al Marchiniak and Brodie Chaboya took turns driving the winch and pressing out the rooftop rail. Josh Wilson, Trey Wiles, Nataly Conner, Squirrel, Jon Haddox were in attendance as well as NorCal Hyperlite’s newest riders Sean Wilson, Lindsey Sloatman and Joel DeRoche. These three riders bring a lot of style, talent and fun to the NorCal team and we are all so glad to have them on board.

The event included a raffle, tons of local bands, High Dive Madness, a pizza eating contest and a whole lot of good times. If you haven’t made it out to a Spanky Beaver rail jam, YOU NEED TO GO TO ONE!

It is a unique location and a lot of fun with a bunch of good people. I camped out on the pool deck with a good number of the riders and friends on Saturday night next to Trey’s handmade tent. Squirrel brought the milk truck and the beer pong tables to keep the fun going well into the night. Shawn Wilson and his Naci Possee were unofficial bartenders that night and introduced us all to a delicious Naci secret. I stayed part of the way through Sunday snapping a few pics before heading home. There are a few more Spanky Beaver events scheduled later in the summer, check out facebook to get the latest scoop for event locations and dates.
